This is a short one. My take in the cafe industry of Ethiopia. am giving this opinion as someone who spend too much time in cafe. I’m no expert.

The restaurant business in Ethiopia is on fire, but the cafe industry is not going that much. Don’t get me wrong when I say not going. There are many cafes like Kaldis Coffee, Bilo’s Pastry , The Goat Café by Alexander Hizikias, and many others inside and outside Addis Ababa. But they are not computing as the restaurant and fast food business.

And I think these business owners are at risk of disruption. Have you seen how expensive the Cake price is? If you didn’t know, let me tell you, It is very Expensive. And if it keeps going like this am pretty sure some foreign company like Starbucks will come and take control of the market.

It might be hard to guess what will happen if Starbucks opens a branch in Ethiopia, but I bet it would be successful.

Starbucks is a well-known brand. I am a big fan of their brand and marketing strategies. So I’m sure many people would like to visit the store. Plus, if they have a more affordable price, I’m sure they will disrupt the cafe industry.

However, I think it’s important to note that Ethiopian coffee is one of the best in the world. Plus, Ethiopians like the ceremony of coffee preparation. So people might hesitate to switch to Starbucks coffee. But who knows?

What Do you think?
Don’t you think we need a disruptor in this sector?
